Dr. Karl Strom, FACS
One of the most well-known bariatric surgeons in the country, Dr. Karl Strom is the founder of NJ Weight Loss Doctors. He is honored to have changed the lives of more than 5,000 patients through weight loss surgery in more than 10 years of practice. Dr. Strom has been named a “Top Doc” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine every year from 2007, currently a total of 12 years.
Dr. Strom earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and his master’s degree from Montclair State University. He attended medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada in the West Indies. Dr. Strom completed his general surgery residency program at Westchester Medical Center at New York Medical College and was selected as chief resident. He remained at Westchester Medical Center to finish a minimally invasive surgery fellowship.
The doctor currently focuses on performing bariatric surgery (including gastric band, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy), revision bariatric surgery, laparoscopic surgery and general surgery. He uses minimally invasive techniques to treat disorders and diseases of the hernia, gallbladder, colon and spleen.
Highly respected in his field, Dr. Strom serves as a proctor, teaching other bariatric surgeons the latest techniques and technologies. He has published in numerous medical journals on topics related to bariatric surgery and laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Strom is proud to have overseen the successful “Bariatric Center of Excellence” designations at Mountainside Hospital, Bayshore Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center (he has affiliations with these facilities).

Dr. Jonathan Reich, FACS
Dr. Jonathan Reich is a board-certified general surgeon that has been voted a “Top Doc” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Reich attended medical school at the Universidad Iberoamericana, located in the Dominican Republic. He completed his general surgery residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, N.J. Dr. Reich then completed an advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.
The doctor’s current practice focus is bariatric surgery and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revision bariatric surgery. He has helped more than 3,000 weight loss surgery patients achieve a healthier lifestyle. Dr. Reich also has a special interest in the laparoscopic treatment of reflux disease; using minimally invasive techniques, he has helped numerous individuals achieve relief from the troubles of GERD.
Dr. Reich is well known within his field and is often called upon to speak to fellow professionals. The doctor has been invited to present and lecture to international audiences during academic teleconferences. He has also published numerous articles in medical journals on topics ranging from hernia repair to gastric bypass to Lap-Band.
He maintains hospital privileges at several New Jersey facilities, including Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.

Dr. Richard Greco
Dr. Richard Greco received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical and Trauma Center in Paterson, where he served as chief surgical resident and was one of the four original founding surgical residents. He then completed fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Greco also completed a surgical internship at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y. He is the recipient of the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Award. He has contributed to a number of poster presentations and belongs to several professional organizations in the field. Dr. Greco speaks English and Spanish.
