Sleeve Gastrectomy

A sleeve gastrectomy is now the most common weight loss procedure. Combining amazing outcomes with a safer procedure with minimal complications we are able to achieve weight loss of around 60% of your excess weight. Through four small incisions we remove roughly 2/3rds of the stomach leaving you with a newly shaped stomach about the size of a banana. This helps control your portions while eating. The portion of stomach we remove is also responsible for your overall hunger drive, so by taking it away you will find yourself less hungry. There are no long term food restrictions, you will still be able to eat the things you like, you will be eating less of it, and enjoying it more! The goal is to change your relationship with food not get a divorce!

Gastric Bypass

Another option which is less common but still performed is the Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass. This reroutes your intestinal track so that the food you ingest is not fully absorbed. Outcomes are similar to the sleeve gastrectomy but is a slightly more involved operation. This procedure may be a better option in some people and can result in more rapid weight loss initially. If you want to understand the benefits of one surgery over the other we are more than happy to discuss them with you in the office!
